Dear Dr. Roberta,
My nieces and nephews are ungrateful. I send holiday and birthday gifts that are never acknowledged. Their parents tell me that the kids are very busy and these days no one writes thank you notes. Is that true?

Dear Auntie,
It’s true that these days many kids have poor manners. Send notes to your nieces and nephews, along with the next gifts you send, informing them that you are waiting to hear whether or not they received the packages and whether or not they liked them. Mention that you won’t be sending them future gifts if these gifts are not acknowledged. Consider sending along a package of thank you notes, too.
