We tried to do a good deed but when we permitted the old man to move his motor home into our backyard we didn’t think he’d stay for years. Every time we ask him to move he tells us that he has no money. No one in his family speaks to him and he’s got nobody to fall back on. Are we stuck forever?

He does have Uncle Sam to fall back on. Go to your county social services agency and find a sympathetic social worker. He may be entitled to more help than he knows.
